Nigerian Arrested in Ghana for Taking Part in Voters Registration Exercise

32-year-old Nigerian has been arrested by Tema Police, Ghana for taking part in the limited voter registration exercise organized by the Electoral Commission of Ghana over a week ago.
Evangelist Vandal was arrested after a lady who wants to remain anonymous reported to Tema Community 1 Police of her missing mobile phone on May 9. The police as part of investigations arrested Vandal who was the key suspect on 12th May, 2016.  Tema Regional Police PRO, ASP Ms. Juliana Obeng in an interview with Adom News’ Kwame Yankah, said the suspect had an indelible mark on the forefinger of the left hand
"He admitted having taken part in the just ended limited registration at Kwesi Plange Electoral Area at Community 1 where he resides," ASP Obeng said.
Vandal who has been in Ghana for the past six months thought his stay makes him a Ghanaian hence registering in the process. According to ASP Obeng, the suspect had a 28-year-old Laundry operator, Solomon Kpakpo Addo as his guarantor during the registration.Solomon is also in police custody Evangelist Vandal and Solomon Kpakpo Addo are being charged for:
Registering without qualification which is contrary to the regulation  28(1)(a) of the Public lection Regulations Act( Voters Registration C.I 91(2016)
Knowingly presenting or giving false information to Electoral Commission officials contrary to the Legislation 28(1)(e) C.I 91(2016)
ASP Juliana Obeng is cautioning foreigners against partaking in such national exercises meant for only Ghanaians.
