Chelsea finally give youth a chance but will Conte follow suit?

Chelsea handed a full debut to Fikayo Tomori, a home debut to Tammy Abraham and gave Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Bertrand Traore and Baba Rahman game time against Leicester as Guus Hiddink gave Blues fans a glimpse of the future.
It was Abraham who almost stole the headlines against the champions at Stamford Bridge with a stunning 20-yard strike from the edge of the box in the 90th minute that flew just wide of the post.
The 18-year-old forward, who has been dominant at youth level scoring 74 goals in 98 games in all competitions, has now got two first-team appearances to his name after being brought on in the 51st minute.
Tomori - who scored in both the FA Youth Cup final and the Uefa Youth League final, did not look out of place and it is yet more promising signs for the Blues' potential next generation, with the club likely to be looking for their next John Terry with his future still very much up in the air.

The Chelsea captain told the fans at full-time that he wants to stay, but, even with a one-year offer on the table, the signs looked ominous as he was thrown in the air by his team-mates after delivering a teary-eyed message to the supporters.
But today wasn't just about Terry.
The performances of the youngsters will send a huge boost of morale to the youth team squads, proving that hard work and dedication can be rewarded with first-team minutes.
The Under-18 and Under-19 squads were presented to the fans at half-time with their youth honours laid out in front of them - this would be the only silverware to be celebrated at one of England's top clubs this season.
Hiddink finally delivered on the promise to give youth a chance at Stamford Bridge, in the club's last game of the season. A final chance for Blues fans to be proud after an abysmal season sees them finish in ninth place.
It was another example of Chelsea's youth side banging the door down in their quest to get first-team football. The club continues to stockpile the top young English talent but struggles to actually give them a chance. Today was different but it must turn into something than just a one-off gesture.
Alexandre Pato and Radamel Falcao, one left on the bench and the other not even in the matchday squad, have proved to be two expensive flops that have essentially blocked the paths of the likes of Abraham and Traore.

Antonio Conte will have plenty of options to choose from when he arrives to guide the Blues into the 2016-17 campaign - one can only hope he utilises the impressive young talent that will be at his disposal.
